If you’ve been following my blog, you’ve probably figured out that I have a lot to talk about. I do. The only problem is, writing my blog leaves me very little time to do other things, like sewing, reading, and playing with Supergirl. And I do have a regular, paying job, too. Even though I work at home, on my own schedule, it’s kind of important to spend some time earning money.

When I started my blog, my intention was to follow Mary Corbett‘s example and write at least 5 days a week. I’m not looking for sympathy, but it’s hard.

With summer just around the corner, I’ll be spending my weekdays with Supergirl and we’ve got Big Plans. So, starting next week, I will post a new blog at least 3 days a week, instead of 5.

If you are one of the kind people who have let me know that you look forward to my blog every day, I apologize. But, with more time to plan, hopefully my blogs will get better.

But first, about this obsession I have with BLUE…

I have spent countless hours studying pictures of antique dolls and their costumes. Since I don’t have room for all the doll magazines I’ve read, I cut out the articles and pictures that interest me and keep them in binders. I have a different binder for each type of doll I collect,

like French fashion,

and all-bisque.

That way, when I’m planning a doll’s costume, I go through only the pictures that apply. I also go through old auction catalogs and now Pinterest.

One day I challenged myself to diagnose what made one outfit appeal to me more than another. Was it the fabric or style? Was it the trim or accessories? Nope, it was the color that got my attention. Blue or blue with another color was what made me take notice.

These are some dolls who’ve gotten the blues recently.

I became fixated on the idea of filling my doll cabinets completely with dolls dressed in blue or blue trim. That makes fabric shopping much easier and more focused. It helps to narrow down my choices and, to a degree, keeps me from buying more fabric that I don’t need.

Now, I just need to find the time…
