First World Problems, Episode 2

Don’t you just hate it when two of your leisure-time hobbies conflict?

Me too.

Here’s the deal. In October, in conjunction with my Cabinet of Curiosities classes, I have the once in a lifetime opportunity to travel to Scotland and England to get a behind-the-scenes look at 17th Century embroideries. And to go to Scotland and England for the first time!

But it’s terribly pricy.

And, of course, DH would need to go with me. So the pricy bit is doubled.

So I got to thinking about it and trying to figure out how to swing the expense. Could I save up enough by August (when payment in full is due)?

Or should I sell a doll???

In the past few years, I have whittled down my doll collection to a few really good dolls that I truly love. And yes, I have a couple of dolls that would pay for the trip by themselves.

Can I do it? Should I do it?

Just the idea of letting one or more of my dolls go makes me shudder. Haven’t I pared my collection down enough?

Or…

Since the weather is getting warmer, can I get production of my doll-size embroidered caskets up and running in time to pay for all this? Just how many would I have to make and sell?

Woe is me, my life is so difficult. I spend a few hours every weekday doing paying work, then spend the rest of my time on my real life pursuits, most of them creative and enjoyable.

And now I have to make a choice between two passions.

Going on the embroidery tour would also mean that I would have to skip the UFDC doll convention this year.

Registration for the tour opens tomorrow at noon. What will I decide? Can I postpone the decision a bit longer and hope that there’ll still be a place on the tour for us if I wait?

Alas, I suffer so…
