Unlike the popular cliche, I don’t “hate to say I told you so”. But in this case, I regret that I was right (see How Do You Doll Show?).
The September Gaithersburg doll show has been cancelled. Many years ago, when I sold my wares at the show, many dealers complained that the September show was their worst show. Since I didn’t find that to be true for me, I dismissed their complaints. (Some dealers were/are perpetual complainers.)
Now the 4 times a year show will only happen 3 times, unless that changes in the next year, too.
Does that make you sad? Is this inevitable? Can we or should we do something to fix the problem?
That’s all I have to say.
I heard from one of my favorite dealers that the March 2015 Gaithersburg show has been cancelled too. Very sad to me, especially since I don’t think I’ll be able to make the December show. Don’t know what we can do…
Yes! I was disappointed too. The Sept show was one that I really enjoyed. It seemed more affordable than the other shows. Bummer that March show is gone too! I can’t blame the promoter, attendance has been dropping like a rock.
Do we suppose that internet shopping has replaced shows? I still love to shop in person and buy when I can See the condition!
Maybe Doll Clubs can sponsor shows ?
