I’m back. I think. For now. I will renew the contract for this blog. It’s been a while since I’ve posted regularly. Lots of things have changed in my life, but after purchasing Lily Auguste my doll sewing mojo is back and I feel like sharing. The Virtual Doll Convention was a treat and added to my motivation. But first a bit about some of the changes. In January last … Continue reading

We’ve been back from Paris for just over a month. I thought it was about time I shared some of our adventure with you. Paris was fun, exciting to share with Supergirl (SG) and exhausting. We saw tons of stuff, ate wonderful (non-GMO, non-high fructose, non-partially hydrogenated, non-artificial, non-Monsanto) real food, and had a lovely time. There were a few negatives, though. Since the attacks last fall, security at most … Continue reading
Long ago, before Supergirl (SG) was born, I dreamed of sewing for a granddaughter. I was going to make her such lovely lacy, dainty dresses. Never happened. I started taking care of her when she was 2 months old while her mom worked full time. And was just as busy as I was with my own kids. Lacy, dainty dresses may be cute for pictures, but serve no practical purpose on a … Continue reading
Today, I am going to share with you updates on several projects and some of my summer adventures with Super Girl. First, I got goodies today. The second kit in my Cabinet of Curiosities course arrived. It had been delayed because of manufacturing and shipping issues, but it’s finally here and I can’t wait to start playing with all the goodies. Along with the other goodies, I got silk gimp … Continue reading
Day 2. I’m pooped. I have been out of town with family, so my summer with Super Girl (SG) just started yesterday. She came in ready for limitless fun. Me, not so much. My stitching/woodworking/sewing mojo has been a bit underwhelming lately. I’ve gotten a bit done on several projects, but not as much as I could have. Now it seems I will be spending my creative time on SG … Continue reading
Last week, for spring break, DH and I took Supergirl (SG) and her parents to Disney World. It was super fun, exhausting and crowded. SG fell in love with Mickey’s new bear friend, Duffy, and collected a few. We had adjoining rooms with her parents, and she chose to sleep in our room. The last time she and I cleaned her bedroom at my house, she wanted to get rid … Continue reading
Besides my cold feet (and everything else) from the cold weather and my old drafty house, I suffered from emotional cold feet last week after finally getting the silk for my trinket box’s embroidery framed up and ready to stitch. After I had drawn the pattern onto the silk, I tried to attach it to the slate frame, but found that the twill tape that came with the frame was flimsy. … Continue reading
Supergirl is 8 1/2 and she still makes me laugh every day. A gas station near us goes overboard with blow-up Christmas decorations. Last week, when we drove by, I tried to point out a specific blow up character. She just didn’t see it, so I told her it was next to Santa’s camper. She looked for a few seconds, then pronounced, “oh I see it, it’s next to Santa’s … Continue reading
Last weekend, Supergirl (SG), Dear Husband (DH) and I went to the beach. SG had 2 days off school for teacher meetings. Several years ago, when DH and I went to the beach in December, SG scoffed at our silliness. Who would want to go to the beach in the winter time?? She gets it now. We visited her Great Aunt, who lives in Nags Head, swam in the hotel … Continue reading
The last few weeks have been busy, but now I’m ready for fall and a return to “normal” life. Last week DH and I travelled to South Carolina with family. We were thrilled and proud to get to see SG’s big brother graduate from Army boot camp on 9/11/14. He seems to have thrived and is now moving on to his specialty training. SG showed endless patience through all the … Continue reading
